Southampton Solent University spin all-rounder Kieran Geyle cracked a boundary strewn century against Old Tauntonians & Romsey, who were favourites to win the British Gas Southern Premier League Division 2 derby against his Totton & Eling side at Southern Gardens.
Totton were in some strife at 109-5 when Geyle was joined at the crease by Kumodak Sharma (44).
They proceeded the turn the tide with a 133-run sixth-wicket stand, Geyle clouting five maximums and ten boundaries in a blistering 115 off 89 balls.
Totton recovered to post 255-6 – but then had to check a similar OTs fightback before securing a 24-run win.
With the Newman brothers, Rob (40) and Pete (32) among those back in the pavilion, ITs looked out of the contest at 146-6.
But Steve Smith (34) and Joe Welch, who biffed three sixes in a quick-fire 26, struck back until both were dismissed by Oli Perrin (4-54).
OTs refused to give in and raised their reply to 231 before being all out.
Newly promoted Langley Manor, meanwhile, suffered a second consecutive defeat, losing by 37 runs at Hambledon.
George Marshall (57) and Imrie Chakrabarti (55) made half-centuries in Hambledon’s 226-7, while spinner George Harding’s 5-33 return sentenced the Manor to 189 all out.
