He shared a 110-run opening stand with Ben Rogers (54) and then 94 with Ryan Scott (37) before being caught ten runs short of a maiden Premier Division century with Lymington rattling along at 219-3.
Lewis McManus (43) and Cameron Grierson (42) added to Alton’s woe as Lymington headed towards a season’s best total.
Alton, whose arrival was delayed due to horrendous traffic, offered little resistance and bowed over for 152 (Mike Heffernan 38), with Hampshire wicket-keeper Lewis McManus taking off his gloves and taking 3-17.
