South Wilts are 23 points clear at the top of the ECB Southern Electric Premier League – but not playing anything like to their full potential.
So skipper and task master Tom Morton wants to see a significant improvement in performance levels when Alton visit Bemerton tomorrow, 11.30.
And it hasn’t escaped Morton’s attention that Alton currently lead the Time pennant log – being the only side to have won all three games.
“Alton are always very competitive, they will fight throughout and provide tough opposition,” Morton warns.
“They beat us at home a couple of years ago and have always raised their game against us, so hopefully that will bring the best out of us.”
South Wilts surrendered their 100 per cent start with a ‘losing draw’ against Burridge last week.
On Sunday, albeit with a half-strength side, they were knocked out of the ECB national club championship by Havant.
Luke Evans comes into the side, with teenager William Wade – two half-centuries in three knocks – retaining his number four slot in the bating order.
“Make no mistake, this is an important match for us,” emphasised Morton.
South Wilts: Morton, Abel, Mynot, Wade, Hayward, Hibberd, Duffield, Franklin, Foley, Warner, Evans.
