Ventnor are in danger of being cast adrift at the ECB Southern Premier Division basement after Alton inflicted their fifth successive defeat by a nine-wicket margin at the Jubilee Ground.
Australian Alex Glendenning, left, made a maiden century for the islanders, but Ventnor’s 184 all out was easily overhauled.
The Sydney-based overseas signing hit 11 fours in his 101 and held the Ventnor innings together.
Julian Ballinger (5-31) and leg spinner Jack Myers (2-41) cashed in, though Glendenning did receive some encouraging back up from two young Sandown Bay Academy team-mates.
He added 76 with 16-year old John Buckman, who made 33 on debut, and after four wickets had fallen for 13 runs and Ventnor dipped to 118-7, another 66 with tail-ender George Willis (17).
Ryan Hale (30) got Alton’s run chase off to a typically positive start, after which Dan Hutton (79) and Alex Hammond (59) picked off the runs to ease the Brewers to a third successive win.
