Langley Manor have been sent spinning off the top of Southern Premier League Division 3 after suffering a shock 54-run defeat at bottom-of-the-table Hursley Park.
They were dismissed for 181 after Zimbabwean Boswell Chapungu’s 85 had pointed Hursley towards a match winning 235-6.
The Manor’s first defeat of the season enabled Basingstoke & North Hants to regain pole position on the strength of an easy seven-wicket win over visiting Ryde, who have replaced Hursley at the bottom.
Only Ben Wadmore (47) provided much resistance as Ryde were whipped out for 113, a total the Bountymen eased past.
Paul Hawkins (96) and Dave Orchard (79) led the way as St Cross Symondians II piled up 294-3 (Brad Aldridge 58) before bowling Gosport Borough out for 169.
Asad Abbas hit 53 in Fair Oak’s six-wicket win over Havant II (102), while ten-man Lymington were no match for Waterlooville, though they did take six home wickets before conceding a predictable defeat.
