Top Southern Electric Premier League umpire Paul Sparshott, pictured, trod the hallowed Lord’s turf last September when he officiated a one-sided Davidstow Village Cup final between Sheffield-based winners Woodhouse Grange and Oxfordshire’s Great & Little Tew, who were dismissed for 117 and beaten by ten wickets. The 47-year old took up umpiring nine years ago, having been a prominent batsman for Hedge End and Locks Heath. He has umpired regularly on the county Second XI and Minor Counties Championship circuit and also in 2014 took charge of the Under-17 ‘Test’ between England and Pakistan at Loughborough.
