BASINGSTOKE and North Hants will look to maintain their perfect start to the Southern Electric Premier League Division One campaign when they entertain Andover at May’s Bounty.
The Bountymen reeled off their most impressive victory over the season so far last weekend, winning by 150 runs at Rowledge. The win keeps Basingstoke third in the table, three points behind new leaders New Milton.
Meanwhile, Andover have not had the best start to the campaign, winning just one of their first four games. Last weekend they lost to visiting Hook and Newnham Basics, despite posting an impressive looking 269-5. Dave Taylor scored an unbeaten 115, his second century of the season.
Basingstoke captain Chris Froud has a full squad to pick from as batsman Chris Oliver and all-rounder Patrick Joseph are available again after missing the trip to Rowledge. However, Dean Nurse scored 81 on his return to the first team and is set to keep his place in the line-up.
Froud said: “I have some tough decisions to make and Dean took his chance well, so he deserves to stay in the team. We know Andover have some very good players so we are not going to take anything for granted. We want to keep winning to maintain the pressure on the top two.”
But, while Basingstoke return to full strength, Andover are anything but with opening pair Ali Hooper, Glynn Treagus, and Darron Augustus among those unavailable.
Andover: Matt Hooper, Souter, Roberts, Taylor, Augustus, Purchase, Williams, Duckworth, Thompson, Foy, Adams.
The Hook & Newnham Basics-Hartley Wintney derby is the main attraction in the north of the county, while New Milton – the third unbeaten club in SPL1 – host Rowledge at Fernhill. Former captain Ryan Beck remains in the second team while his broken finger repairs.
New Milton: J Park, L Beck, Edwards, Elliott, Gargaro, Haggaty, House, Lawes, Loader, N Park, Watts.
Bournemouth, fresh from a convincing win at Liphook & Ripsley, host Totton & Eling at Chapel Gate, with disaffected Ipswich Town fan Andy Hayward retaining his place in the side.
Bournemouth: Miller, Hayward, Kitson, Finnie, Kidner, Matthews, Pack, Woodward, Wainwright, Khattak, Palmer.
Liphook & Ripsley, still without a win, are more or less at full strength for what promises to be an important visit to Calmore Sports
Calmore Sports: Lavelle, Vann, Johns, Perry, Holloway, Pegler, G Woodhall, Rose, West, Proudley, Wright.
