Bryn Darbyshire came to Lymington II’s rescue against Ryde, hitting a blistering six-strewn century and setting up a new Southern Premier League, Division 3 record partnership in the process.
Newly promoted Ryde were licking their lips at the prospect of recording a maiden SPL3 victory when four quick wickets reduced Lymington from a stable 58-1 to 69-5.
But Darbyshire, pictured, and sixth-wicket partner Jack Roberts shattered their hopes with an enormous stand of 222, which pointed Lymington to 326-9 and an eventual 88-run victory.
Darbyshire butchered seven sixes and 14 fours, scoring 138, while Roberts was run out on 99, one short of a maiden Lymington hundred.
Ryde responded through Josh Procter (69) and Ben Wadmore (60), closing 238 all out, with young Cam Robertson and Oli Kelly taking three wickets each for Lymington.
Langley Manor’s bid to reclaim lost Southern Premier League Division 2 status continues apace with a fourth straight win – a four-wicket win over Havant II, who posted 249-7.
Bobby Dyer (75) and Tim Clark (50) expanded on the earlier efforts of Simon Loat (38) to give Havant a competitive total.
The Manor lost the returning Ali Cheyne cheaply, but a 90-run stand between Connor Browne (47) and Jack Budd (68) put them in the driving seat.
Luke Mooney (40) and Steve Harris, with 35 not out, guided LM into a winning position despite a three-wicket break by Hampshire 2nd XI hopeful Richard Jerry (3-39).
