Past Ventnor and Hambledon all-rounder Nono Pongolo is celebrating his maiden five-wicket haul in South African provincial cricket after bowling Gauteng to a seven-run win over Boland in the CSA Provincial 1-day 50-over Challenge at Johannesburg University.
The 28-year old, who spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons at Ventnor and subsequently played at Hambledon, took 5-29 as Gauteng narrowly defended 273-7, Pongolo hitting a late and valuable 36 not out. Boland were dismissed for 266.
Pongolo spent the 2017 UK season playing for Newcastle & Hartshill in the North Staffs and South Cheshire League and plans to return to the Potteries this summer.
