What a season its been for Bashley (Rydal) !  They 1st XI won by ECB Southern Premier League for the first time, the second team was crowned Division 3 champions and the third’s took the Hampshire League County Division 3 South title. A unique treble in Hampshire recreational cricket.
They won their opening four matches, then lost twice in quick succession to Hayling Island and Shanklin before cruising through July and August unbeaten to finish 20 points clear of Shanklin.
It is always good to have a mix of youth and experience in a side and in Chris Gates and Graham Pardey they boasted two players with over 500 Bashley appearances under their belts. Being a 3rd XI, the team changed consistently and some 26 different players did their bit towards the championship cause.
Nine different batsmen made 50s and two – Tom Saunders (v Ventnor II) and former Essex captain Paul Prichard (in the title clinching win at Hythe & Dibden II) – made hundreds.  Saif Ackakzai (460), Saunders (372) and Sam Scott (312 and 14 wickets) caught the eye, while Tom Harris (19 wickets), Toby Mills (`8) and 13-year old Louis Prichard (17) were the leading wicket takers.
