Bashley's Louis Prichard - six of the best !
A chip off the old block and certainly following in his father’s footsteps.
That’s Louis Prichard, 13-year old son of former Essex captain Paul Prichard, who bowled Bashley (Rydal) thirds to a key 39-run victory over Locks Heath with an astonishing 6-22 return off 7.5 overs.
The win lifted Bashley to the top of Hampshire League County Division 3 South, above Shanklin, who crashed to a five-wicket home defeat by Calmore Sports.
Bashley, rocking at 36-6 after Sam Gardner (4-14) took four wickets in four balls, recovered to reach and successfully defend 151, Sam Scott (41), Dan Hart (35) and Chris Gates (17) coming to the rescue.
Second in the table overnight, Locks Heath made a steady start, but were spun to defeat by young Prichard, who had all six of his victims caught before the hosts collapsed to 112 all out.
Not surprisingly, junior Prichard’s progress is already being monitored by Hampshire’s junior age group coaches.
