Andover have won the George Winkles Memorial Trophy after London Road was named Southern Premier League Ground of the Year. The club previously won it in 2008.
“We were elated to win the ground of the year award and it is credit to Mike Adams (pictured with the trophy) and his team - Keith Williams and Andy Hooper- for their unbelievable efforts,” beamed Andover vice-chairman Ali Hooper.
“London Road has been a great place to play cricket for a number of years since we had our square relaid.
“We invested heavily in winter ground-works and despite the heavy snow earlier in 2018, the guys managed to time their work to perfection. Then to have to overcome the driest summer for some time, it is incredible that they continued to produce pitches that had pace, bounce and offered something for both batters and bowlers. “The club's water bill might be through the roof but we had some superb games of cricket at London Road as a consequence !”
