Archie Reynolds will captain Waterlooville in Sunday's ECB national indoor sixes regional finals in Cheltenham, having turned down the opportunity of joining promoted Sarisbury Athletic.
He appeared set to sample Southern Premier Division cricket for the first time this summer following the Ville's relegation into the competition's third tier last August.
But, after a change of mind, Reynolds - the eldest of four brothers at Rowlands Avenue - will remain at the Ville.
He has, however, handed the captain's armband to batsman/wicketkeeper Dan Birch, with whom he will play alongside in Sunday's indoor cricket.
Ville are paired against the Pembrokeshire side Neyland in the second of the west semi-finals at 1.45pm, after Cheltenham have played Ventnor in the 12.15pm opener.
Ville team is : Archie Reynolds, Charlie Whitfield, Dan Birch, Jon Hudson, Joe Mitchell and Ray Reynolds.
Ventnor will be on a breakfast time car ferry from the Isle of Wight ahead of a near three-hour trip to Cheltenham.
Sunday's winners will play in the ECB national championship finals at Lord's on Sunday March 29.
