Bashley (Rydal) will be without five of last season’s ECB Southern Premier League championship winning side when they entertain Andover in the League Cup curtain raiser at the BCG, 12.30.
Leading run scorer Tom Friend, Ben Walker, left-armer Brad Currie, promising all-rounder George Pardoe and left-arm spinner Ross Grierson are all missing.
But, on a positive note, Bashley include their two winter signings Dorset pair Dom Clutterbuck and Harry Fisher, alongside Sam Crisp, an exciting 16-year old left-arm pace bowler from Poole Town.
Of the five absentees, Currie will return to action as soon as his ‘isolation’ period ends – he is in the Hampshire ‘bubble’ having been training alongside sibling brother Scott in the county squad – and may be back for the round two league cup matches.
Bashley (Rydal): Porter, Turner, Taylor, Fisher, Holly, Jacques, Digby, G Wilson, M Wilson, Clutterbuck, Crisp.
Hampshire’s Academy youngsters will be watched by county coach Adrian Burrell and director of cricket Giles White when they take on Alton at the Jubilee Ground.
James Tomlinson will lead a young, inexperienced but talented Academy side - most of whom will get their first sighting of a steam train passing by at the far end of the ground now that the Mid-Hants Watercress Line has re-opened !
Hampshire Academy: Tomlinson, Prest, Broderick, Middleton, Wheeler, Metzger, Mumford, Le Fontaine-Jackson, Kelly, Huntley, Khanna.
There will be a fresh look to the St Cross Symondians team – minus Jimmy Adams, Harry Came and Felix Organ – against Bournemouth at the Green Jackets Ground.
Guernsey all-rounder Matt Stokes is included, while Bournemouth hope to field Parley pair Sam Collins and Alex Nippard.
St Cross Symondians: T Foyle, Trussler, Stokes, Ellis, Lewis, H Foyle, Beetham, Bransgrove, Brooke, Nicholls, Wolverine.
The Winchester club’s second team, promoted as runners up to SPL2 champions Totton & Eling last season, are also in the Premier/Division 1 section and visit Sarisbury Athletic in an East Division affair at Allotment Road.
St Cross Symondians II: Orchard, Laney, Hankin, Wheeler, Gould, Allen, Haworth, Neave, Holzmann, O’Connor, Hirst.
New Milton visit Totton & Eling’s Southern Gardens headquarters in the other Premier/Division 1 West match.
New Milton: George Watts, Toby Edwards, Luke Mortimore, Lee Beck, Campbell Golding, Ryan Beck, Ollie Nicholls, Dan Loader, Alex Mills, Nick Gargaro, Joe Hall
