Former Bashley (Rydal) left-arm quick Tom Barber has been released by Nottinghamshire after two seasons at Trent Bridge, having not been offered a new contract by the club.
He took eight wickets in six first team appearances during his two years at Nottinghamshire, his most recent three games being in this season’s 50-over Royal London Cup.
“It’s sad that my time at Notts has to come to an end, but I’m very appreciative of the support from the coaches, fans and players whilst I was at the club,” said Barber.
“I think the biggest compliment I can pay to the club is that it has been the most enjoyable two years of my career so far and I’ve made friendships which I hope will last for a very, very long time.”
Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mike Newell commented: “It’s been sad to see Tom (and team-mate Ben Compton) go. He’s given his all, but with first team opportunities having been limited, the time is right for Tom to move on.”
Nottinghamshire has been 25-year old Barber’s third county since coming to prominence locally as a left-arm fast bowler with Parley and then being taken on to the Hampshire Academy. He later turned out briefly for Bashley (Rydal).
He played six times for England Under-19s in 2013, alongside playing a handful of times for Hampshire before joining Middlesex, where he made ten Vitality Blast appearances between 2017 and 2019, taking seven wickets.
