Award winning Basingstoke & North Hants cricketer George Metzger has joined Newcastle - but it’s only for the upcoming Australian winter season !
He has flown to Northern New South Wales to play for Newcastle City in the state premier league and will debut in Saturday’s T20 double headers against Carlton and Northern Districts.
It’s unlikely Metzger, who topped Basingstoke's batting charts this summer, will be behind the stumps due to a sore back.
