Bournemouth have been deducted 25 points by the ECB Southern Premier League for "failure to provide a pitch of suitable quality" at Chapel Gate for their opening match of the season against Hook & Newnham Basics on May 7 2022.
The match was abandoned 13.2 overs into the Hook innings (28-4) as the playing surface was considered 'unsafe'.
The points deduction mean that Bournemouth (who had accumulated 50 points largely on the back of winning their last two matches against Bashley (Rydal) and South Wilts) dropped to the foot of the Premier Division table ahead of today's scheduled visit to Totton & Eling.
Since the abandoned match on May 7, there have been protracted discussions with Bournemouth University (who own the ground and are responsible for pitch/outfield preparation) culminating in a vastly improved surface for last weekend's round 4 match against South Wilts.
St Cross Symondians II, who lie bottom of Division 2, have been deducted five points for fielding an unregistered player in a recent match.
