Bournemouth University have issued the undermentioned statement following the abandonment of Saturday's ECB Southern Premier League match between Bournemouth and Hook & Newnham Basics at Chapel Gate, for which they are responsible in terms of pitch maintenance and preparation.
"
“We always want the conditions of our sporting facilities to be the best that they can be and apologise that standards have fallen short on this occasion.
"We’re committed to working with the Cricket club, ECB and Southern Premier Cricket League (SPCL) to resolve all of their concerns, and are in constant dialogue with them, including an emergency pitch inspection with the ECB where advice was given, which we are looking to implement this week, as well as a joint action plan to ensure that high quality cricket can continue on the site this season.”
Bournemouth's next two SPL matches are against the Hampshire Academy on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground (Saturday) and at Bashley (Rydal) on May 21.  They return to Chapel Gate on May 28 against South Wilts.
Near neighbours Parley are due to visit Chapel Gate for a significant Hampshire League Division 1 match against Bournemouth's second team this Saturday.
