Teenage Chichester Priory Park talent Freddie Gillett has been named this website's ECB Southern Premier League Cricketer of the Week after his match winning six-wicket bowling return for Hampshire Academy against Alton.
The 16-year old, who is coached by Chris Adams at Seaford College, took 6-59  including the wicket top scorer Sam Ruffell (82) as the Academy comfortably defended 309-8 to win by 45 runs.
Freddie's father Stuart previously played for Lymington, while the teenager, despite living and being schooled in West Sussex, has been on the Hampshire Pathway system since he was six years of age.
Gillett, left, who made a handy 25 before tea, had plenty of time to sit back and watch Finn Gordon (68), Andrew MacEwen (58), Connor Lamsdale (50), Sanjeet Garood (30) and Ethan Martin (26) rack up the bulk of the Academy's 300-plus score.
Bash Walters (3-41) bowled well for Alton, who slipped to 55-3 before Scott Myers (61) and Sam Ruffell (82) got them in the contest.
But the pair were dismissed within two runs of each other, leaving the door ajar for Gillett to carve out his six-wicket haul and leave Alton 264 all out.
