Bashley (Rydal) all-rounder Dan Goodey struck an innings saving half-century but was unable to spare Brunswick, his adopted Australian club from losing their opening Victoria CA Sub-District match to Ormerod.
Brunswick were 89-6 when Goodey hit three sixes in an unbeaten 55, but his team's 180-9 was easily overhauled. Bashley team-mate Michael Porter made 13, while Dorset's Greg Willows and Bournemouth raised Jamie Price played for Ormerod.
Bournemouth left-arm spinner Conor Smith has switched to play for Montrose this winter and took 2-29 on debut. Team-mate Ben Rogers ended up in A & E in a Melbourne hospital after suffering a finger injury during East Keilor's defeat by local rivals Keilor Park. Rogers, spending a third and final winter Down Under before he gets a job, was caught and bowled for 4 and later took a catch - but was later whisked off to hospital by Australia's Royal Flying Doctor Service. He returned to the club with his arm in a sling and finger heavily strapped up. A medical update is awaited.
Old Tauntonians & Romsey spin all-rounder Joe Vaughan led Bentleigh to a big win, making 77.
