Portsmouth left-hander Ben Duggan returned to familiar Vectis soil to notch a century amid a Steephill fest which produced 609 runs and a comfortable victory for the city club over winless Ventnor, who went down by 95 runs.
Duggan, pictured left, spent a period of his embryo years at Ventnor, hit 11 fours in his 111, sharing a century stand with Melville all-rounder Fraser Hay (88), who struck four maximums and 13 boundaries.
Dan Wallis (33), continuing his fine season, maintained the momentum before Will Smitherman lashed 54 off 29 balls to propel the Portsmouth total to an unassailable 352-5.
Ventnor lurched to 65-5 (Hay 4-49) before Neil Westhorpe (88) and Ben Woodhouse, with an SPL best 94, added 131, striking six sixes and 21 fours in their partnership, which ended at 200-6. Wallis (3-38) created inroads into the lower order as Ventnor slipped to a defiant 257 all out.
