Sydney teen Fraser Wilson hit a second consecutive half-century and his third of the season to guide fourth-placed Rowledge to a four-wicket win over visiting Southern Premier Division One rivals Andover at Church Road.
The 19-year old former Knox Grammar School student made an unbeaten 59 as Rowledge successfully chased down Andover’s 172 all out (Ali Hooper 44/Glyn Treagus 34) with 29 balls to spare.
Wilson had been due to start a university business degree in Australia, but the lure of helping Rowledge re-establish themselves in SPL1 after last season’s promotion was so inviting he came back for a second year, putting his studies on hold until next January.
He enjoyed partnerships with Sam Plater (40) and the influential Ricky Yates (35) before Rowledge got home. Earlier, Yates had taken 4-43, while his Hampshire Seniors’ father Chris spent the entire day gridlocked in a horrendous traffic snarl up caused by the M27 closure at Rownhams and didn’t get his gear out of the car boot.
