Cape Town leg-spin all-rounder Craig Jeffery is leaving Fareham & Crofton to ply his trade with Tonge, a Bolton-based club in the North West League.
He has been at Fareham for the past three summers, skippering the Bath Lane club to sixth place in Southern Premier Division 3 last season.
His 667-run tally, which included centuries against Gosport Borough and Parley, left him fourth in the division's batting charts. He also took 20 wickets.
"I've had a marvelous three seasons at Fareham helping the club establish itself in Premier League cricket. My stay there has not only enhanced my cricket, but also set up junior coaching clinics which my successor will hopefully benefit from," he said
Anxious to fill their overseas player vacancy, Fareham recently sent their chairman and left-hand opener Tom Kent to Cape Town to spend three months with the Plumstead based Western Province League outfit.
Kent got an immediate - and painful - taste of what WPCA cricket is about as opponents Claremont rattled up 457-8 in 50 overs against Cape Town seconds.
"A guy named Perez made 237 of them, hitting 20 sixes and 21 fours. I've never seen hitting like it," Kent said.
Cape Town made 223 in reply, Kent adding 13 runs to the two catches he took.
