Hampshire's Fletcha Middleton has begun the second  half of the Australian grade system in the way he finished the last - by standing upright at the crease and scoring hundreds !

He took his run tally past the 600 mark for Belmont, his adopted New South Wales club, by scoring a third successive treble figure score in the 28-run loss to Newcastle District Premier League rivals Charlestown.
The 23-year old Fair Oak raised cricketer made scores of 200 and 140 immediately before Christmas and an innings long 115 against Charlestown.

Despite him hitting two sixes and nine fours and losing nine different partners, Middleton's team were unable to better Charlestown's 251 all out.

Two other Winchester-based Hampshire cricketers, both from Southern Premier League champions St Cross Symondians, scored runs in the opening round of 2026 fixtures abroad.

Felix Organ has flown to Cape Town to play for Claremont in the Western Province Premier competition and made 64 on debut against WPCC, whose Hambledon leg-spin all-rounder Justin Behrens made his comeback after breaking his ring finger last month.

Dom Kelly hit 48 as Melville scored 313-8 against WACA table toppers Perth at Fletcher Park.

Bashey Rydal pair Fin Gordon and Will Tipcony played their parts as Casey South Melbourne won, Gordon scoring 34 for CSM and Dorset's Tipcony hitting a match winning 70 aganst Coburg.
