Patrick Holly rescued Bashley (Rydal) II with a maiden unbeaten Southern Premier League century which eventually set up a remarkable 49-run win over Division 3 rivals Hambledon at Ridge Meadow.
Bashley were in the mire at 45-5 after a four-wicket new ball burst by Rhidan Chapman (4-27) when teenage duo Holly and James Turner turned the match around in dramatic fashion.
Holly led the way with two sixes and 14 fours in an unbeaten 125, sharing a wholesome 161-run sixth-wicket stand with fellow teen James Turner (54 not out), who reached his fifty shortly before Bashley’s innings closed at 216-5.
Their partnership was the second highest SPL3 stand for the sixth wicket.
Neil Taylor (3-26) chipped away at Hambledon’s top order, leaving Henry Glanfield (76) to keep the hosts in the hunt, but when he was caught – appropriately caught off Holly’s spin – the Dons nosedived from 145-4 to 167 all out, the last six wickets falling for 22 runs.
