Havant pair Richard Hindley and Chris Stone combined their long established spinning skills to send Southern Premier Division 1 title aspirants Hambledon crashing to defeat.
The Havant 'old guard' took all ten wickets as Hambledon were dismissed for 196, a total the hosts passed with 11 balls to spare and two wickets in hand.
Defeat was a bitter blow for Hambledon's promotion hopes - they go into the penultimate round of fixtures 23 points behind Sarisbury Athletic - but a potential saviour for Havant, who were in danger of being sucked into the relegation mire after a winless recent run.
Hambledon began brightly enough with a fifty by the under-rated Mark Butcher (with support from Chris Pratt 29) but, immediately the pair had taken 13 off Chris Morgan, Hindley began to weave his magic. He finished with 4-15 off ten overs - not bad for a 50-year old !
Hambledon were probably a batsman short - star player Henry Glanfield chose the BBC Proms instead of cricket - and lost their way from a promising 107-2 when Hindley had Butcher pouched at first slip.
Spencer LeClercq (38) made useful runs but Stone made the running with his quick off-spin, taking a personal best 6-26 as the Dons, Toby Restell (27) apart, fell away.
Havant's reply ebbed and flowed, but from a solid 71-1 they slipped to 124-6, with Kieran Abrams,
Olly Perkins and Harrison Barnard all making 28.
If there's one player you'd like most at the crease when the going is tough its Richard Hindley. His timely 26, aided by Oli Jones and Aron Tubman, got Havant home.
