Hambledon's 110-run semi-final defeat by Foxton Granta was cushioned when the powerful Cambridgeshire club thrashed Cheshire's Stayley by 145 runs to lift the Voneus Village Cup for the second year running and so became the fifth team to defend the trophy at Lord's.
In the process, Richard Kaufman (bowled by Ian Turner for seven in he semi-final) became the first player in the competition's history to score a second hundred in the final as he smashed 122 to underpin Foxton's 265-4.
Stayley struggled to get anywhere near the target as they were bowled out for just 120.
South Wilts raised Josh Croom, who plies his left-arm trade in Cornwall these days, made his Lord's debut in the ECB National Club Championship but affluent Penzance lost the final by 25 runs to Ormskirk. Croom bowled a wicketless five overs for 29 runs and later got a seventh ball duck.
