Hampshire’s Jimmy Adams is set to make one of his occasional St Cross Symondians’ appearances tomorrow – and that could be bad news for title chasing Burridge !
The last time Adams played at The Ridge in May 2015 he hit an unbeaten century as St Cross chased down 217-9 to win by eight wickets.
A treble-figure repeat of that at Botley Road tomorrow (11am) could have serious consequences for Burridge, who are eight points behind South Wilts at the top of the ECB Southern Premier League table.
Adams, who played for St Cross as a junior long before embarking on a successful county career, also made a century in his last Symondians appearance against Havant in May 2017.
St Cross, who are in with a chance of lifting the all-day Time pennant, are sending a powerful side to Burridge, with Australian all-rounder Ian Holland set to play alongside the former Hampshire captain.
Matt Stokes, who took a hat-trick in that May 2015 win, returns, as does teenage batsman Billy Mead, who missed last week’s victory over Basingstoke & North Hants with a back injury.
Burridge have yet to name their side, but skipper Rick Ankers is known to have major bowling injury issues over Dan Stancliffe and Sully White.
St Cross Symondians: T Foyle, Mead, Adams, Came, Holland, Stokes, Ellis, H Foyle, A Ayres, Bransgrove, Mitchell.
Hampshire’s Academy side continues to lurk in third place and could pose a major threat to Burridge and South Wilts, who still have to visit the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.
Eleven points adrift of South Wilts, but only two behind Burridge (who they play next Saturday), the Academy make a first ever visit to Basingstoke & North Hants.
Little George Metzger returns to his home May’s Bounty ground, while England Under-19 all-rounder Tom Scriven will be anxious to continue with the form which saw him hit a century in last week’s thrashing of Lymington.
The Academy shot Lymington out for 49 – but there’s no place ay May’s Bounty for hat-trick hero Ajeet Dale, whose pace spot goes to Chris Searle.
Hard working Basingstoke groundsman Craig Williamson, who hit 87* against St Cross Symondians last week, is absent and is replaced by Chris Jolley.
Academy: Felix Organ, George Metzger, Josh Wood, Tom Scriven, Fletcha Middleton, Scott Currie, Tom Prest, George Pardoe, Mo Abass, Sonny Reynolds, Chris Searle.
Alton, second from bottom after losing four of their last five matches, host Lymington 49ers at the Jubilee Ground.
South African import Marco Marais has been recalled by his native Border provincial side and has returned home having made only 164 runs in ten SPL knocks, including a best 73 against St Cross Symondians last month.
