Hampshire prospects Tom Scriven and Felix Organ inspired their adopted Australian club Broadbeach Robina to an eight-wicket win over Coomera Hope Island in the Gold Coast Kookabura Cup.
Scriven took 4-40 as CHI collapsed from a threatening 119-1 to 142 all out, a total Broadbeach chased down with Organ hitting an unbeaten 73.
Hampshire wicketkeeper Lewis McManus made 42 and later bagged three victims behind the stumps as Camberwell Magpies (248) beat Hawthorn by 35runs in the Victoria Premier Division. McManus lines up against Ian Holland’s Ringwood Grade side this weekend.
South Wilts pair Ben Draper and Luke Evans were on the receiving end of a thumping 152-run defeat inflicted on their Melbourne Parkdale side by Carnegie, who made 239 before routing their opponents for just 87. Evans and Draper at least made double figures, with Draper getting another 14* as Parkdale reached 82-1 following on.
Bemerton team-mate Ryan Murray is plying his trade for Mirboo North in the well known Latrobe Valley League, a 90-minute train ride east of Melbourne.
Murray has taken seven wickets for far and bowled 22 overs in his last stint, taking 2-40.
Across the Tasman Sea, Havant’s Harry Gadd top scored with 32 before his adopted Kiwi club Queenstown Ballarat suffered a catastrophic collapse, losing eight wickets for ten runs against Cromwell, the side folding from 62-2 to 72 all out in 18.2 overs.
