Hampshire Seniors found a good way to keep warm on a biting cold afternoon at Oxted & Limpsfield - they chased the ball about in the field for 45 overs as their Surrey counterparts rattled up a formidable 280-2 in the National Sixties Championship.
Ashford's Chris Evans led the way with a 19-four 140 not out. At least Hampshire collected maximum batting bonus points from their eventual 56-run defeat, Chris Wheeler hitting 53, with Nick Board (30), Andy Steggall (29) and Neil Trestrial (29) in support. Hampshire closed with 226-7.
