It rained fours and sixes at Steephill in midweek when Ventnor took on a Hampshire XI as part of the island club's 175th anniversary celebrations.
A bumper crowd lined the bowl and saw over 400 runs scored, 25 sixes hit and the audience treated to an exciting finish with Ventnor's Dan Cox bringing up a century off the last ball and his side finishing only two runs behind Hampshire's 206-6.
Cox, who hit four sixes and 13 fours, finished 101 not out as Ventnor closed 202-4, with Henry Edwards (32 off 14 balls) and Ben Attrill also enjoying the fun.
Earlier, emerging spin all-rounder Zack Basey hit 50, captain Dom Kelly an enterprising 49*, Fletcha Middleton 31 and academy starlet Sam Ashman 26*.
All in all it was a hugely enjoyable afternoon, with Ventnor raising vital funds for pavilion and clubhouse upkeep.
