Sarisbury Athletic all-rounder Jacob Harris (above) is on the brink of a surprise return to his Gosport Borough roots after injuring his back in last weekend's dramatic Southern Premier Division 1 defeat at Ventnor.
Harris has been advised not to bowl again this season and a has decided to return to his old Privett Park haunts and play as a batsman for the mid-table Division 3 club for whom he may make a return at bottom of the pile Purbrook tomorrow. That depends on his agent and lawyers being able to get the transfer rushed through in time to meet league deadlines.
The 21-year old has been batting as low as eight for Sarisbury, but will probably be three or four for Gosport, where he has been the lead player in recent seasons.
Jack Richards will captain Gosport at Purbrook Heath, where the Borough are without skipper Lee Harrop and opener Denzel James.
Gosport Borough: M Toogood, V Richards, S Taylor, C Pennicott, J Karippai, T Chicot, G Kitchin, M Ali, S Prathapasinghe, J Richards, J Harris (prov).
Top billing in SPL3 is the first v second duel between unbeaten leaders Portsmouth & Southsea and Langley Manor at St James's Park.
Portsmouth & Southsea have won all six matches to date and enjoy a 21-point lead over Langley Manor, but are without Jake Peach for the table topper.
Portsmouth & Southsea: Ben Saunders, Alex Davidson, Tom Benfield, Matt Benfield, Jack Davies, Alex Davidson, Toby Hernandez, Max Goddard, Dean Lee, Keiron Dunstan, Jono Willey.
Sway and Paultons both came a cropper last weekend and, if P & S win, can close the gap if they get their form back.
Sway, rolled over for 120 and beaten by nine wickets at South Wilts, receive Basingstoke & North Hants II while Paultons are at third from bottom Trojans.
South Wilts have won half their games now and look for a fourth when Havant II tackle the inbound A36 to Salisbury, always good fun with a radiator potentially overheating on a hot day !
South Wilts II: Smith, Litchfield, Brown, Cranch, R Pittman, Bolam, Brewer, S Pittman, Partridge, Langdown, Bradberry.
