Harry Gadd, above, just missed out on a century as Portsmouth dished out a 147-run thumping to Lymington on the penultimate Saturday of the Southern Premier League season.
The skipper fell four runs short of a hundred after arriving in the middle with his side 56-4 in the New Forest having been inserted.
Josh Royan (3-49) had occupied centre stage, dismissing Sam Caddy (15), Ray Reynolds (9) and Dan Wimble (3).
But Gadd hit 10 fours and three sixes in his 88-ball innings, adding 118 for the fifth wicket with George Metzger (71) to wrestle the initiative away from the hosts, Portsmouth closing on 267-9.
It was Gadd’s sixth half-century of the league campaign, including three scores in the 80s – 87 not out v Hampshire Academy, 87 v Bashley and 85 against Bournemouth.
Spinner Tom Lewis was Portsmouth’s star bowler when Lymington were bundled out for 120. The former South Wilts man returned figures of 7.2-2-13-4 after being introduced as first change.
He accounted for Ryan Scott (7), Ethan Baker (6) and Charlie Wilson (10) as the New Forest club dipped to 55-3.
Freddie Gadd (3-36) and Ben De Laszlo (2-20) subsequently reduced them to 82-7 with the former having skipper Gareth Berg (7) caught by the latter.
Fittingly, Lewis wrapped up the innings on 120 by bowling tailender Albert Adkins.
