Teenage Hartley Wintney opening batsman Ethan Ramsay boosted his prospects of Scotland selection in next year’s ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup with an unbeaten century in the final round of Southern Premier League matches.
He was 139 not out as Hartley Wintney, with 11 overs unbowled, powered their way to 331-9 against Division 2 rivals Liphook & Ripsley before play on the historic Cricket Green was abandoned.
Ramsay, whose availability for Hartley Wintney has been curtailed by captaincy duties at the prestigious Bradfield College for the past three summers, hammered six maximums and 19 fours in his career best knock.
James Mulvey slammed 71 off 25 balls, including seven sixes, while Kyrant Munt (38) and Jonny Kerr (25) also gorged themselves on the Liphook bowling.
Hartley Wintney had already been relegated into the fourth tier of Southern Premier League cricket before the abandonment of the Liphook game. They managed to win only five of their 16 matches.
Ramsay, meanwhile, has plenty to look forward to with three months of cricket in New Zealand before the Under-19 World Cup tournament in Namibia and Zimbabwe next January.
