Opening batsman Stuart Ransley (pictured above - Roy Honeybone) and seamer Richard Jerry did their bit, but overall Havant produced a below par performance and were resoundingly beaten by seven wickets by West of England Premier League leaders Clevedon in the ECB Royal London Cup fifth round.
Ransley glued the Havant innings together after the hosts top order had been blown away. He batted the entire innings and was tenth out for 76 as Havant were dismissed for 135. Andy Gorvin was the only other batsman to reach double figures and together they raised 44 to lift Havant from 36-3.
Richard Jerry (3-24) gave Clevedon a scare by taking two wickets off the initial four balls of his opening overs - Harry Ellison was brilliantly caught one-handed by Chris Morgan at backward cover - and then took a third at 25.
But Jake Lintott, who played a T20 Blast match for Hampshire against Somerset last season, soon ended Havant's faint hopes of an upset with a volley of fours. He breached the boundary rope 17 times in a blistering 93* while the classy Connor Crane hit 31 not out at the other end.
* RL Cup quarter-finals on August 5: Stanmore v Clevedon, Brentwood v Roffey, Richmondshire (Yorks) v Ormskirk, Wolverhampton v Northern (Liverpool).
