Jonty Seeborn pulls to leg : Dave Reynolds
Hook & Newnham Basics fell to a third successive Southern Premier Division 1 defeat when Rowledge beat them by 17 runs in a high scoring affair on a superb King George V surface.
They came up short at 256 all out, chasing a Rowledge total of 273-8.
Rowledge made the early running with opener Max Martin (56) continuing his good start to the season with timing and shot around the ground. Although losing Le Roux and brother Ethan early he, along with Jontie Seeborn (88), took the attack to Hook. The pace of the innings was perfect and when Martin finally went leg before to spinner Will Gardner it was left to Seeborn to show his class after a slow season start and come to the fore.
He battled away whilst the visitors had their customary middle order issues but when Ryan Littlewood (39 no) joined him at 187-6, they took Rowledge to the sizeable total that was needed on the excellent strip.
Big hitting and excellent running between the wicket exposed Hook's fielding in the heat and with Ollie Baker (16no) at the end of the innings pushed the score to a slightly above par 273-8. Will Gardner was the pick of the Hook bowlers with figures of 3-49.

Charlie Neville runs again
A sound opening partnership of 66 by in-form Charlie Neville (48) and Stuart Lockwood (42) set Hook up for a charge at the target, but wickets fell just as Basics seemed to be taking control.
The Rowledge fielding added the pressure to the increasing scoring rate.
Rupert Armstrong (51) joined Thomas Dyer (46) at 155-4 and their big hitting seemed to be taking the game away from Rowledge. Dyer fell to the left-arm spin of Ollie Baker (3-44) and then Armstrong went to Australian spinner Justin Felsch. The visitors' tails were up and the run rate was up to 10 an over required.
The Hook tailers batsmen collapsed and from 240-6 the last four batters went to the spin of Felsch and Baker with 3 wickets falling in the last 2 overs and a final total of 256 all out.
Once again the Rowledge fielding was the key difference in the sides and produced an excellent win at a hard place to go.
