Lewis Watts bowled Sarisbury Athletic captain Rob Franklin off the last ball of the match as Hook & Newnham Basics tied their top-table Southern Premier Division 1 match at the KGV, each side scoring 238 !
Midway through the penultimate over, Sarisbury - at 232-7 - were favourites to overhaul Hook's 238-9 - but lost their final three wickets off the last ten balls of the match.
Rupes Armstrong removed Archie Pascoe to make it 232-8, but then Sarisbury tailender Conor Clark hit a single followed by a boundary off the opening ball of Watts's final over.
Two balls later, Clark was caught and bowled by Watts (237-9). Sam Hill tied the scores (at 238-9) to leave Franklin to score one winning run off two balls. He missed it and was bowled.
Earlier, Tom Morton [see article to follow] took his overall Southern Premier League run aggregate beyond 10,000 with 84 before being bowled by Usman Ijaz (3-42). He hit 12 fours and, after a near century stand with Nathan Feltham (36), watched as Franklin (17), Matt Reeves (15) and Pascoe (15) nudge Sarisbury closer to the target.
Hook earlier made a bright start through Josh Buckingham (32) and Sam Lockwood (30) before Oli James, aided by Usman Ijaz (25) made a Premier League best 77 which included four sixes. Pascoe took 3-48.
