Old Tauntonians & Romsey spin all-rounder Joe Vaughan cracked a career-best score century for Bentleigh, his adopted Australian club side - having been told by medics he wasn't fit enough to play ! Having not played since December 21, Vaughan feared another blank Saturday on the sidelines when he broke a finger attempting a catch at midweek training. Undeterred, he went ahead and opened the batting for Bentleigh - and posted a highest yet 139 against Southern Bayside rivals Dingley, whose fielders wilted in the Victorian heat. Vaughan struck a six and 13 fours. Bentleigh totalled 313-8, a score they successfully defended with Dingley dismissed for 128. Vaughan's 4-21 secured his MVP award. |
