Lymington have announced the death, aged 82 years, of long standing member and prominent batsman John Lawson, who joined them in the mid-1970s.
A very talented and technically correct batsman, ‘Laws’ scored 850 runs in the hot summer of '76 alone. He went on to umpire for the club, and in later years was a familiar sight most Saturdays in the Sports Ground clubhouse closely following the club's fortunes and sharing a pint or two with his long-time mates Brian Hobby, Mike Halliwell & Co. He was much loved and respected by everyone at Lymington.
