South Wilts pace bowler Matt Burton produced figures of 6-58 as Kent were dismissed for 351 by Hampshire on the opening day of the Second XI County Championship match on the Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground.
His haul included Kent run gun Ben Compton, while Longparish raised Billy Mead struck an unbeaten 84 for the visitors.
Hampshire have taken a 19-run first innings lead into day three, with Felix Organ having made 134 and featured in two handsome stands with Fletcha Middleton (58) and later Academy captain Joe Eckland, who hit 84. Scott Currie (28), and Academy pair Tom Cheater (27) and Jude Wright (22) joined in the scoring as Hampshire reached stumps 370-5.
The Alton-raised Wright went on to make an undefeated 96 (one six and 14 fours) as Hampshire reached 490 all out. Billy Mead took four catches behind the stumps and then made a second innings 34. Kent were five wickets down at the close and only 119 ahead.
Kent were bowled out for 370 - Rowledge's Ethan Martin taking four wickets and Academy gloveman Charlie Mumford bagging five victims - before Hampshire chased down 232-6, Joe Eckland (63), Mumford (64), Archie Fairfax-Ross (34*) and Jude Wright (22*) to the fore.
