Havant are through to the Hampshire Under-17 Kerry Cup semi-finals – but Portsmouth are out of the competition after suffering a catastrophic batting collapse against Parley.
A six-wicket win at Alton has teed up a Thursday evening (5.30) home semi-final for Havant against Fair Oak, who skittled Aldershot for a meagre 40 in their third round tie.
Havant slipped to 58-4 (Jack Lee 25) before an unbroken partnership between Alfie Taw (30) and Charlie Whitfield (22) guided them past Alton’s 111-7 (Jude Wright 27) at the Jubilee Ground.
Whitfield (3-12), Taw (2-31) and Freddie Gadd (2-21) shared the bowling spoils.
Fair Oak’s Rob Munday (4-9) ripped through the lower-order to send Aldershot spinning to 40 all out, which the visitors raced past in seven overs.  Ravi Chahal (23) top scored.
Portsmouth plunged from 61-1 to 70 all out after Parley had posted 125-6 (Freddie Pryce 29) – Joe Huns (5-10) and Bo Powell (3-7) triggering the collapse.
Joe Eades (29) and Jack Collett (22) had earlier given Portsmouth a decent platform.
The other quarter-final between hot favourites Sway & Lymington and Hook & Newnham Basics has been rescheduled for the Sports Ground on Monday evening.
