Will Parvin [left] scored an unbeaten 65 to guide Hambledon to a seven-wicket win over Langley Manor - a result which has established a 25-point lead for the village club over the Southern Premier Division 2 chasing pack.
Portsmouth & Southsea sit comfortably behind them in second place in the log - they visit the Cradle of Cricket on Saturday (1230) - with the Manor now fifth below New Milton and Sway.
With the famed Henry Glanfield absent adding to his extensive golfing silverware collection, Parvin - who is studying dentistry at Cardiff university - had cavities to fill as Hambledon were asked to chase down 142 for an eighth straight win.
But he got his teeth stuck in to the task and hit nine-fours, sharing handy stands with Justin Behrens (28) and Elliott Lewis, who made 23 not out. His knock crowned a fine run chase.
Weakened Langley's total was largely underpinned by Sean Ervine (55), the former Hampshire all-rounder, with 16-year old Ollie Bembridge brushing up 3-24.
Jake Peach took 4-28 with four St Cross Symondians II wickets falling for six runs at one stage, but from 73-6 the Winchester side clawed their way out of trouble with 50s ace Richard Wilson (70) and Jason Laney (53) leading the recovery.
Matt Benfield (82) looked to be steering P & S to a comfortable win at 159-4, but with Hampshire U16 spin prospect Jack Roberts taking 3-41, the visitors wobbled and only inched home in the penultimate over, eight wickets down.
