This Sunday's annual Lee Nurse Memorial Day at Basingstoke & North Hants launches a Festival of Cricket at May's Bounty in the next eight days.
Former Basingstoke & North Hants and Finchampstead team-mates, along with retired South Africa left-arm pace bowler Charl Willoughby, Carl Greenidge and Julian Wood, are set to play in Lee's memorial match, which starts at 1 o'clock. Lee Nurse died in April 2020 from covid.
Lee started playing at the ground in Basingstoke when he was eight years old. In a relatively short spell away from the Bounty, he was Finchampstead captain for the 2006 and 2007 seasons and also played Minor Counties Berkshire for many years.
Basingstoke then host a three-day ECB Under-18 County Championship match between Hampshire and Sussex starting on Tuesday (11am).
The bank holiday weekend is bristling with top club cricket, with Basingstoke & North Hants facing Voneus Village Cup holders and 2022 Lord's finalists Calmore Sports on Saturday, 12.30pm.
On Sunday week May's Bounty hosts the ECB South T20 finals (more on that later) and on Monday 29 August Andover play Basingstoke & North Hants in the Guy's Jewell T20 Cup final (more details later).
