LOSING LIPHOOK LIMP TO LORDS ... SARISBURY FINISH SECOND

6/9/2018

Liphook & Ripsley take the field at Lord's on Sunday week (September 16) having won only one Southern Premier League match in the last ten outings – at Calmore Sports and also tied with Sarisbury Athletic – and not at all since beating Sussex League Division 2 champions Mayfield in the Village Cup semi-finals.
Their recent losing streak continued on Southsea seafront, where Portsmouth's 243-5 (James Christian 84) proved a 79-run winner. Rob Nicklin made 67 of Liphook's 174, Vickram Dawson (4-46) and Andy Marston (3-20) doing the damage.
Sarisbury Athletic and OTs & Romsey will both be satisfied with their mid-Southern Premier League Division 1 table finishes.
Sarisbury ended a creditable runners-up to runaway champions Bournemouth, while promoted OTs, full of promising young cricketers, finished in mid-table with eight wins from all 18 matches actually played.
Sarisbury's ten-run win at Romsey owed much to top order trio Ricky Rawlins (77), Toby Mills (55) and Sam Floyd (46) who got a lion's share of their 229-5.
Harry Tulk (55), Rob Newman (39) and Steve Smith (33) responded for OTs, Josh Hill and Joran Wright taking three wickets each. They were dismissed for 219.
