Lymington’s long wait for a win against arch New Forest rivals is over – the 22-run ECB Southern Premier League victory at the Fagan Fields being their first success since August 2018.
They successfully defended 227, with Bashley skipper Michael Porter hitting a defiant 73 before the hosts were dismissed for 205.  The 37 'wides' Bashley sent down had a major bearing on the outcome.
Returning after a sucessful winter in Victoria sub-district cricket, Monam Abbas (33), with Terry Crabb alongside, had 55 runs on the board in ten overs.  Jovan Dhariwal (26) helped things along before Gareth Berg celebrated his captainchy debut with 50 to ensure a competitive total.  Returning after Academy cricket, Ethan Baker took 3-53, with Jacob Gordon and George Wilson sharing another six wickets.
Incoming Australian Eddie Withington took 3-35 for Lymington, including Bashley opener Will Tripcony. Bashley found it difficult to progress and Porter enjoyed only moderate support from his teammates as Lymington held their catches. The last five Bashley wickets fell for 30 runs.
