Joe Collings-Wells LYMINGTON relinquished top spot after suffering the heaviest defeat in ECB Southern Premier League history.
Gareth Berg’s side had occupied pole position for most of the season, raising hopes of a first title for exactly 40 years.
But they are now down to third - behind St Cross Symondians and Alton - after a spectacular 292-run humiliation against Burridge.
After the hosts had racked up 340-4 declared, Inayat Ullah and Ollie Southon combined to skittle the leaders for just 48 – Ullah bagging a hat-trick on his way to four wickets in one over.
Ironically, the same bowling pair had wrecked Lymington two seasons earlier, sharing all ten wickets as the New Forest visitors crumbed to 37 all out !
Joe Collings-Wells and teenager Ronnie Singh laid the foundations for the remarkable result with an opening stand of 206 – after Berg had won the toss and chosen to field at Botley Road.
He smacked 15 fours and three sixes in his 137, the highest of his eight league centuries, while Singh hit six fours in his 70.
The runs continued to flow as Aussie Toby Snell lashed 10 fours and five sixes in racing to an unbeaten 89 off 49 balls, sharing a 70-run stand for the third wicket with Ullah (25 off 14 balls).
Oli Southon started a procession of Lymington wickets when he removed Connor Moors with the fourth ball of his second over. Ullah then bowled Robbie Hemmings with the last ball of his second over to leave Lymo 4-2.
It got worse, and quickly – the visitors (minus the in-form Jovan Dhariwal and left-hand opening partner Terry Crabb) nosediving to 23-6 when Southon bowled Berg with the first ball of the 11th over.
Josh Royan and Jude Tollerfield (25*) took the score to 48 before Ullah finished things off with a four-wicket maiden. He bagged his second SPL hat-trick by bowling Royan, Aussie Ed Withington and Guy Layman with successive balls.
Ullah ended with 6-20 when he trapped Asad Abbas leg before off the final ball of the 16th over. Southon finished with 4-28.
