St Cross Symondians seconds must beat Rowledge to stand any slight chance of snatching the Southern Premier League Division 2 runners-up spot.
They travel to the Surrey county border looking to make up a 22-point deficit on Rowledge, whose final game of the season is at home to relegated Trojans.
While Rowledge were defeating Totton & Eling, St Cross made short work of Langley Manor, bowling their guests out for 112 before racing to a seven-wicket win.
With Ed Hands taking 3-22 and Dan Young 2-26, Langley plunged to 73-7 before Steve Harris (20 not out) and Jamie Brown (31) gave the innings an air of respectability.
Dave Orchard (2-21) and Matt Perry-Lewis (2-6) finished the innings off.
St Cross lost Kevin Neave for a duck, but were eased to the brink of victory by Paul Hawkins (44 not out) and Dan Lunn (31).
Nigel le Bas (above) carried his bat through Trojans’ 213 all out at May’s Bounty, his 108 not out being his fourth SPL hundred.
But it failed to save Trojans from a seven-wicket defeat by hosts Basingstoke & North Hants II, who polished off the target with 12 overs to spare.
Le Bas struck three sixes and 12 fours in his innings-long knock, but from a steady 198-4 (James Truscott 37), Trojans lost their last six wickets for 15 runs – Chris Jolley (4-21) and Rakitha Perera (3-58) doing the damage.
Jolley then blazed 50 off 33 balls – 42 of them in boundaries – to make it a stroll for Chris Froud (42), Scott Dyer (33) and Matt Deadman, who finished it off with an unbeaten 67.
Paultons were in desperate trouble at 69-6 against Waterlooville – but made a remarkable recovery to reach 242-9 and go on to win by 144 runs.
Seventh-wicket pair Australian Josh Abel (72) and Josh Metcalfe (63) added 139 to lift Paultons towards a total which secured a fourth straight win.
Tony Richman (5-36) and Peter Lamb (3-22) combined to skittle the Ville for 98 and a fourth successive defeat.
