New Milton hope they have unearthed a nugget from deep beneath Australia's gold fields.
Sam Moran, who hails from Bendigo, famous for the goldrush back in the 1850s, is to be the Green & Gold's overseas player in Southern Premier Division 2 this coming season.
A 20-year old left-arm seamer, Moran represented Victoria in Australia's Country Districts Festival in January, and finished the season with 15 poles.
With South African Thaakie Davids not returning New Milton will need to replace the 700-plus runs he made in 2025.
They have recruited Scott Rolfe from the Hertfordshire-based Tring Park, who has recently relocated to the Milton area for work.
Rolfe, who played in the top level of Thames Valley League cricket, arrives with strong top-order experience and is expected to add quality and stability at the top of the order heading into the new season. His arrival comes at a timely moment for the club, with regular opener James Adams set to miss the entire campaign as he recovers from a hip operation.
The Fernhill club has welcomed two new shirt sponsors for the upcoming campaign, Savills and Mortgages4U. Savills, which has recently opened a new office in nearby Lymington, already have a strong connection to the club through New Milton top-order batter Ollie Shrubsole, who represents the company locally.
Captained again by Ed Bartlett, New Milton have warm-up matches against Bournemouth II and Sway before launching their league programme at relegated Hook & Newnham Basics.
