Fareham & Crofton's saddle sore cricketing cyclists have raised £2,420 for club funds and the local charity Moving on Project, whose vision is to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of young people aged between 11-25 in the Fareham and Gosport area, so that they can achieve their full potential.
Over two weekends, the Hampshire League cricketers rode 1,721kms (over 1,000 miles) – 200km over the planned target – mainly around the Gosport/Fareham peninsular, the 53 rides taking them out through Titchfield, Stubbington, Hill Head, Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport and back to their Bath Lane headquarters down the disused railway cycle track.
The cricketers should now be in peak condition to play some end-season friendlies, once the Government gives the green light to begin. The Bath Lane square is in top tip condition through the efforts of Mike Steele, Tony Tucker and their grounds team.
