Langley Manor tied with Paultons after a dramatic fightback by their tail-enders culminated in Simon Peters top-edging two runs off the last ball to square the Southern Premier League Cup match at 141 apiece.
There appeared only one outcome when the Manor stumbled to 77-8 in response to Paultons’ 141-7 – but Steve Harris initiated a comeback which saw 54 runs added for the last two wickets.
Arriving at the crease with Langley Manor already wobbling at 23-3, Harris (36) saw five team-mates come and go as Archie Dunn (4-33) carved through the middle-order to leave the hosts 77-8.
Harris (left) added 36 with Peters before being caught behind at 113-9, leaving last man Ben Morgan to face the music.
But the pair belied their status in the batting order by adding precious runs which edged the Manor to within six to win off Tom Smart’s last over and three off the final ball.
Peters top edged Smith’s last delivery over the wicketkeeper’s head for two to level the scores at 141-9.
Jacob Lee (29) and Andrew Collins (23) top scored for Paultons, with spinner Nick Doubell (3-31) taking three of the first five wickets.
